About Great Trails
Great Trails is an online world which allows you to virtually visit the Lake District National Park. This is a fully immersive experience where you can explore the fells and the footpaths that link them.

Using game engine technology we aim to deliver the complete planning tool to aid you on your next trip.
This virtual world serves both visitors and businesses. The potential visitor can be transported to the National Park to build memories and plan a trip. Businesses gain a unique marketing opportunity to build a presence in each of the three levels conveying the key aspects of their offering in increasing detail.
The Concept
Overview provides a three-dimensional table-top view of the National Park, providing a complete idea of what's available and allowing you to easily move to different locations.
Explore, puts the user at ground level to get a true feel for towns, footpaths and the open mountains. At the explore level you can walk and experience views as you would in reality. This can also help in gaining an understanding of ground conditions and gradient to help with planning.
Experience, which takes you inside key attractions such as stepping into a cosy pub, taking a virtual ride on the Ullswater steamer or navigating the Go Ape course at Whinlatter for example.
